TRS-80 Model 1 MX Keyboard (Assembled)

Upgrade your TRS-80 Model 1 with our Fully Assembled and Tested MX Keyboard. This keyboard is assembled and tested to ensure optimal performance and compatibility with your vintage computer. The keyboard includes custom keycaps designed to replicate the original look and feel, and a properly installed steel keyboard shield to ensure correct positioning within the computer case, just like the original. Additionally, the keyboard comes with a cable and connector for the main board, providing a reliable connection and replacing the fragile foil-type cable.

This fully assembled keyboard fits within the TRS-80 Model 1 case without requiring any modifications to the case, ensuring full compatibility with the original design. If you haven’t done already, replacing the foil-type ribbon cable with a header is required to attach the keyboard to the mainboard.

Assembled keyboards feature DIP switches to simplify modifications to the keyboard mapping. Customers can provide a detailed description of their preferred key mapping and design during checkout (within the cart). If no specific preference is provided, the keyboard will be assembled with the default layout (no numpad) and design, replicating the original. Attaching the numpad key switches later is always easier for you than removing them.

Various keycap designs are possible, and a specific design can be pre-applied based on your preference. However, all keycaps will be supplied, allowing you to change the design as desired. With the DIP switches, remapping specific keys (4 in total) can be easily done later on as well.

Please note that a bezel is not included. Depending on your key switch combination, the original bezel can be used. A replica bezel for the MX keyboard is available for order separately, if required.

• With keys next to spacebar (works with original bezel; default) or without (leaving gaps with original bezel, requiring custom bezel)

Note: Items are assembled on-demand. The expected assembly time is about 1-2 weeks.
